Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by the overgrowth of a type of yeast called Candida albicans. This yeast is normally found in small amounts in the human body. Certain medications and health issues can cause this yeast to over grow especially in warm moist areas of the body.
There are several types of Candidiasis:

  • If it is found in the mouth or throat, it is referred to as oral candidiasis or thrush.
  • If it is found in the genital area, it is known as yeast infection.
  • If it affects the skin on the babys bottom area, it is known as diaper rash
  • If it enters the blood stream, it is known as invasive candidaisis.
